    Flash Hider Question

I was looking at AIM Surplus and came upon this flash hider for AKs. It looks just like the YHM Phantom but is priced substantially less. It also doesnt say anything about Yankee Hill Machinery or Phantoms. Im guessing its a knock off. Does anyone know if such a flash hider would still provide effective flash suppression or is it a piece of junk?

    Thanks

I sure could be wrong but, it looks like it could possibly be cast rather than machined.
If it's a MIM casting (Metal Injection Molded) I would stay away from it.

You're gonna hate me when you see the price but, I would go with the combo comp and flash hider by PRIMARY WEAPONS.
They somehow managed to make it simultaneously serve both functions very well. Really good design/engineering.
But, like everything else these days you're sure paying for it.

While we all like a deal, I tend to keep one thing in mind.

You get what you pay for.

Flash hider on an AK? Interesting thought, but here's how I see things.
    1. I like to throw a fireball with my AK with muzzle brake at the range in broad daylight.
    2. Flash giving away your position? Make your shots count then move.
    3. Hiding? Hiding from whom? If you're going to be hiding from big brother and his forces...they'll probably be looking for you with all the high tech devices at their disposal to include (but not limited to) night vision, thermal, and infrared so you'd best be wearing your tinfoil suit.
    4. How do you suppress the sound with a flash hider anyway? (other ways they can identify your location) and grenades only need to get close to do damage.
How important is a flash hider anyway, and is it going to be as effective enough as you'd want it to be? Hopefully the flash will be the last thing the zombies will see anyhow, and if you have those maximum capacity magazines that should go with any AK...........most of them will be sucking turf in no time.

I don't know about the knock-off, but I have the YHM on one of my AK underfolders and it does suppress the flash from my point of view. I can't see that the cheap one would work physically any different, how much difference in dimensions can there be?

I haven't stabbed anybody with it, or cut any razor wire with gunfire.......yet.
