    You mean this one?

12 GA all have a decent kick, especially with a heavy load. I own a double-barrel 12 GA and I used to fire it like a pistol. Now that was a pretty good kick, lol. The Mossberg will jump, but what the heck, it's a 12GA. You gotta hold on with firm grip. Definitely not something for the missus, IMHO.

I consider it the ultimate home defense weapon though. I only have the pistol grip because my house has tight halls and corners. If I had more room, I would bolt on a shoulder stock.

I have the same Mossy as pictured above. Yes it does kick, but I am willing to live with it. I have a regular stock that I can use with it, but prefer the shorter overall length for negotiating the hallways of a house.

That being said, there are other "pistol" grips that are supposed to give softer recoil. The sort that looks like a regular shoulder stock that has been lopped-off right behind the pistol grip is supposed to lessen recoil a fair amount

The one I am looking at has the pistol grip with a shoulder stock. I have shot my Remington 870 supermag many times without even thinking about the recoil. I think that the guys i work with are exaggerating the recoil of the gun.

I have a similar Mossberg, the key for me was to use Federal LE Low Recoil rounds. I use both 00 buck and Slug, makes a huge difference in how much kick you get. In fact, the change in ammo was more significant to me than installing a low recoil hydraulic buffered stock.

Don't mean to hijack the thread. But I'm considering a persuader w/ pistol grip in addition to my saiga and 870 with standard stock.

Is the recoil more or less than a 500 S&W, 454 Casull or 357 Mag?
(Please give an idea w/ federal le recoil reduced and standard loads)

    Thanks

    590 mossberg KICKS

I have the 590 moss with pistol grips and with slugs at the 75ft range watch out for the belly shot recoil. YOU GOT TO LOVE IT . If You want to hit the spot,a mounted laser is perfect .

Really can't compare most of those since I've not shot them...but this would be close. Shooting a .357 vs a standard .38 special is about like shooting full power 3" 00 or Slugs vs the Low Recoil Loads. Hope that makes sense. When I shoot full power loads I dread the 5th shot....when I shoot Federal LE Low Recoil, I believe I could shoot all day and not mind it.

I've got a Knoxx recoil reducing grip on my Mossberg 500. At 5"6" and 150lbs it's a big help in reducing felt recoil.

With a PG stock, it won't kick any harder than a standard 12ga with a buttstock.

If you are worried about "kick", then a shotgun might not be for you. Take the time to learn to use a shotgun properly, and the recoil is not an issue.

I was going to suggest this as well. If you are going for the grip, use reduced recoil loads as well.
