Question Remington 1100 Single vs. Double Piston Compatability?

My 1100 has the newer piston assembly-- one unit where the piston and the seal are joined and cannot be separated. The older 1100's have the two pieces separate, where one sits on top of the other.

Does anyone know if the 2-piece unit can be used in place of the 1-piece unit? They look the same (when together), and I was wondering if there is any compatability issue.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Sounds to me like they just modified the old design,I would assume it would work, the only way to know is put it on and function test it,to make sure it cycles the action

When they are one piece its easier to flip the piston for field loads or express loads. A lot of 1100s have the instructions inside the fore stock. The piston has two purposes, one to drive the action and two a brake to keep from beating out the back of the reciever.
