If I had to make a guess I'd say that the non NFA items are in more demand and perhaps are being made more than the 14.5's to meet the mad rush for possible "to be banned" items.

I wanted to start anther AR15 biuld this week, but its been a while since my last build.
I have always bought uppers and parts kits and threw them on a lower receiver.
When i was doing some research last night, it seems 14.5" barrels are nowhere to be found!
I have a legal SBR lower receiver, so I really cant justify buying a 16" barrel for a SBR lower.
And I dont really want to go to a 11.5" barrel because they are next to useless for my needs.
Does anyone know why the 14.5" well has run dry?

They shouldnt be, everything in the AR market has really loosened up in the last few weeks.
