    Warranty info on Legacy

I wanted to purchase the Marine Escort, but when I opened the box it had a sheet of paper stating that it did not have any written warranty so I did not purchase it. I came home and called and talked to two people at Legacy, including the VP, they were both very rude telling me there is no written warranty of any kind and that they would not put it in writing. The VP said they have a lifetime for manufacturers defects as long as we are in business. I told him OK put that in writing, that something that is not written down is nothing at all. Well he did not like that at all and said buy something else and hung up.

Ruger also does not have a written warranty, but take care of all things.

I don't buy Rugers either. I have in my gun safe firearms from 6 companies and all of them give a lifetime warranty. Not to do so is a total cop out. There are enough manufacturers in the world with a great variety of guns so one does not need to do business with those who for what ever reason try to get around a written warranty.

    Ken,

I will disagree with you in practice, but agree with you in principle.

I have expirienced both Legacy and Ruger's commitment to the consumer after the sale, what warranties are for, and have found both companies to be exemplary. I would have no hesitation in purchasing products from either company.

While it would be nice to "have something in writing" it isn't always necessary. The "rudeness" may have been there, but we are only getting one side to the story, and it is only your perception. I wonder what the gentleman's perception of that conversation was that was on the other end of the phone line from you?

I can only conclude he did not like me asking him the question of why. If it is their intention and desire to give original owners a lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship on manufacturing defects why would they not put it in writing? I can only conclude they want to reserve the right to say no when ever they want to, and leave you no recourse.

Anyway I purchased a Mossberg 500A for less money with a ten year written warranty that is made in the USA.
