You got that right, "Poor Mans!" I would not even compare either of those two weapons systems with and M4 or AR15. They are a notch below for sure.

Just try hitting anything with iron sites past 150 yards with an AK. Wait I know, people will say they do it all day long. Shaq Oneil paper targets don't count!
    Ccccccc what? Ccccccccccc Hawks!

We've hashed this out elsewhere, and we should probably leave it elsewhere. The man bought an AR-15 (not an AK or a Mini), and wants to know about an AR-15 (not an AK or a Mini).

Wow, now I am wondering about my Colt...Its stamped 5.56 Nato HBAR on the barrel, but .223 Rem on the receiver. Glad I havent tried 556 out of mine. yet.

My point is that when money is an issue the money is better spent on the Mini or AK. The AR tends to be a money intensive project.

Two different stamps on the same rifle? That's hilarious. You should give them a call and ask. Generally speaking you should have no problems with your Colt. They know the difference between NATO and SAAMI chambers and mark their barrels accordingly. Still interesting that they marked the receiver differently...

Found out what model mine is....it's the KB3 so 5.56 nato it is. Thanks to another sight.

Took it out to my family range today and it performed very well. Crispy trigger.

Use a bit of my Father-N-laws ammo to test function (rapid fire etc) and mag performance, all good.

Then stapled some targets to the plank and shot some more rounds.

First target was 75-100yrds. Took me a bit to learn the sight offset, but got consistant.

Then I tried 175yrds and six rounds....nice groups.

I was prone and was using a bipod with iron sights.

Glad it runs for you! Nice shootin', but no feedramp cuts on the receiver = .

They weren't deemed necessary on the M16A4...

Good shooting Frogbones. What kind of ammo was used?

Well the last 30 rounds on the first target and the 6 rounds on the second were Hornady TPX (or somethin like that) 55grain...some kind of varmint round. Wasn't my ammo is was the pop N laws.

Let me just say this, I had no Idea they were like that...when I shot I was expecting something a little sloppier @175yrds, like what my SKS does....was really surprised when we walked (I pushed his wheel chair) up the the target and saw those six holes...I was like, "I gots to post/document this".... father-N-law rolled his eyes.

My understanding (I also got my first AR a few months ago) if it is marked 5.56 it will shoot 5.56 and .223Rem. But if it is marked .223Rem, it is not a good idea to put 5.56 through it. Just as a .357 Mag revolver will fire .38spl but a .38 spl revolver will not fire .357mag ammo.
