    In general-

    Priority 1 - defensive handgun
    Priority 2 - backup defensive handgun
    Priority 3 - shotgun suitable for defense
    Last Priority - a rifle or carbine suitable for defense

    Start with the closest/most likely scenario, and work outward.
    The more good folks carry guns, the fewer shots the crazies can get off.
