************************************************** *I ordered a Field Grade M1 from the CMP on January 2nd, it just arrived today. It's a 2.6 Mil S/N that places it's production in January of1944. It's likely it saw action somewhere in WW2, but one can never know.
Still pleanty of life left in that barrel. . .
As an M16A1(and later M4)generation soldier....I STILL THINK THAT THE M1 is the LAST REAL BATTLE RIFLE!! Need to get one!

Agreed, I hated the springy sound the M16 makes equally as much as I love the solid bang-Bang-Ping sound the M1 makes. The M16A2 and M727 of my service days are toys compared the the brutal awesomeness of the M1 Garand. :D
