    Trigger Slap definition - found

    Here it is:

It is when a ill fitting or ill formed disconnector slaps the trigger during normal operation of the weapon.. It will slap the trigger so hard that it can actually cause pain to your trigger finger.

PS - Ram Rod, dude every time I've posed a question either in this forum or another you are right there with the info! You rock.

Many if not most of the triggers installed on Romanian WASR AK (Century builds) suffer from trigger slap. All needed is to install a Tapco G2 "no slap" trigger group and problem is solved.

Is that something a novice could do or is it better left to a gunsmith?

They've(CAI) have been installing the Tapco G2 for a little while now. Trigger slap is pretty much a thing of the past on WASR rifles now.

If you did get an older rifle with trigger slap, it's not too hard to install a trigger. It's a drop-in piece.

This. I bought mine a few months ago now and I don't seem to experience "trigger slap"...

My WASR came with the G2 trigger group already installed. I believe most of them do nowadays, at least the ones imported by Century.

Century Arms has been using G2 triggers on their AKs for several years now. Some people have never gotten over the problems of the earlier CAI AKs.

The AKs I have seen coming out of CAI in the last year have been very good quality for the money.

It's not hard, if you can find some good directions or a video showing how to do it (Jim Fuller's Kalashnikov Armorer DVD does a nice job of showing how to do this). I've done it on a couple of AKs and I am by no means mechanically inclined.
