I have a 870 Tactical and I want to shoot slugs.

1. Do I need to get a rifled barrel?
2. What are the deferences bettween rifled and non rifled slugs?
Rifled slugs are used in smooth bore shotguns. They can be used in most barrels except full and extra full choked. Sabots are used in (rifled choked or)rifled barrels, are more accurate, and might get a few lbs more energy per equivalent load. IMO a rifled slug in a 26" smooth barrel is accurate at 75 yds for minute of deer, rifled barrel w/ slug to about 150+yds.
