Class 07 is a manufacturer of Firearms.

You need some one with an import designation, which would be 08 or 11.

Know Which Type Of Federal Firearms License Yo Need - FFL License

However, any dealer can do it if they know which forms to use. Finding one that will do it is another issue.

If the rifles are already in state, then any dealer can do the transfer, nothing special needed.

I sell Zastava SKS's from Serbia. All Imports will have the original serial number and also the importer's name etched on the barrel. Most I get are C.A.I. Georgia VT. You won't find more than a hand full of importers. Most I get come through Century Arms International. They are distributors though, not dealers. Barrel length may vary 22-24". Some Will have grenade launchers and bayonets, other imports will not. Condition can also vary. Buyer beware. Everything I sell is Good to Excellent condition.

Once they are imported (usually in bulk by distributors), any 01/07 FFL Dealer in your state can sell/transfer for you.

    SKS

Are you able to import from Canada and do transfers, I am looking specifically for 2 of the Russian SKS 1951 or 1953. I do not know about the Serbian version or how it was milled. The China version is junk so to speak.

"This is going to be a quick summary... :D Chinese and Russian sks imports have been banned since the early to mid 1990s. Unless they sit in another country for five years and then an importer can claim they are the other coutries weapons and import them. Yugo sks rifles have not been banned but they just recently dried up for the most part and hard getting hard to find. Romanian and Albanian sks rifles are not super common and are usually in semi rough shape when found. North Vietnamese, north Korean, and east German are near impossible to find but are very cool to actually see in real life.

Century arms has some yugo m59s in right Now in excellent or good condition on there web site. These don't have the grenade launcher like the m59/66s or m59/66a1s and are a closer copy of the original Russian milled sks without the chrome lined barrel."

Between 1980-1992 Communist Yugoslavia experienced a break up. It's a long history but in a nutshell, The Republic of Yugoslavia broke up in 1991/1992 during the Bosnian War. What was left of the Republics of Yugoslavia by 2003 was Serbia and Montenegro.

Zastava Arms (formerly a part of Yugoslavia) is located in Serbia and has been building SKS's and other very nice rifles and pistols since 1853. SKS's were licensed to Zastava. The Serb (Yugo) version are most notable from other soviet licensed SKS models, including the Russian (built by the Tula Armory), in that they have the M22 Grenade launcher found on the Serbian (Yugo) M59/66.

All variants are becoming scarce. East German and Albanian are more scarce because less were made and more were destroyed in wars. The Russian and Polish versions may be more valuable to some but not necessarily built any better except for a chrome lined barrel. The Chinese type 63, 68, 81, 84 are actually not true SKS's at all. Most are blond wood and have stamped receivers. The Chinese versions though cheaply built are generally in better condition that most of what is left of soviet SKS's.

There are still enough SKS Carbines in the US that there should be no need to import one (or two) unless they are in extremely pristine condition. Even then, unless it has some personal value, it's probably not going to be worth the expense and effort.

You also mentioned you were buying for your nephews. If so, you should be made aware or reminded of what constitutes a straw purchase.
Straw Purchases apply to modern firearms as well as Curios and Relics.

    https://www.nssf.org/factsheets/PDF/strawPurchase.pdf

Good luck and hope you find what you are looking for. An SKS in good condition is a very decent rifle. Most at least have some history behind them. One can only guess where and how they may have been used.

Yep to above it is not like say the SVT40 I have seen for sale in Canda for 500 bucks or less .. They would def be worth the effort to get in country ( if any does let me know ) .. Lot less common and more expansive then a SKS

I mean there are still crap tons of them in the USA ... Sure most are a bit banged up or chinnese built .. But one thing they chinnese makes pretty good is guns .... I owned a few China coms AKS/SKS and they are decent guns

But yeah Yugo are a good bet .. But I mean go on gunbroker and you can find a bunch of Russian SKS if you really want that

And yeah do be awar of what straw buying is ...

I like SKS esp the AK mag models decent good battel guns ... But I would not spend the money and effort to import one or two unless it was owened by someone famouns or I dont know N Korean model etc

Gun Shows sometimes have the Russian SKS guns... They CAN be found, but you'll pay the price the seller wants for it. We sometimes have Polytec SKS rifles come in, but they flyout quick.
