Kahr CW40 slide problem
I noticed at the range today that the slide on my Kahr CW40 is failing to lock back on an empty magazine. The gun is fairly new and is still in the "break-in" (200 rounds) period. Other than that, the gun shoots fine. Is this a typical "break-in" problem or something more serious? Any info would be appreciated.

You may have a defective magazine and it is not actuating the slide release lever. Contact Kahr Arms and have them send you out a new magazine. Try that first and continue the break in period, and if that doesn't take care of the problem, you may have to send your pistol back to Kahr. Their website has instructions on how to do that at www.kahr.com.

If you shoot with a thumbs forward grip you may be holding the lever down during recoil. Shoot again with a different grip, or let someone else shoot to test. If it locks back when not shooting, it should lock when you do.

You know I think you're right. I'm not used to shooting a smaller gun and I probably was covering the slide release slightly. I won't know for sure until I get to the range again but thank you for your help.
