Is Gunzilla a protectant, a lube, a cleaner or all of the above??
highly recommend Ballistol..non-toxic,leaves a nice slippery teflon like film..
Saw a Hickok45 video on YouTube and he uses Ballistol.
I have never used Gunzilla but I recently purchased Ballistol. I used to use Break Free CLP. Ballistol is as good as if not better than Break Free. I think it cleans a bit better. I also like the smell of Ballistol (I know I am weird). I does smell a bit like dirty socks but also is smells like Anise. I purchased Ballistol for a lot cheaper than I was paying for break Free
I use Ballistol exclusively. I like the fact that it's water soluble – makes for easy cleanup.
I think gunzilla is as good as a lot of other products out there which do the same thing with one exception.
Gunzilla = Non Toxic! No ammonia, no petroleum distillates, no cancer causing products and no strong odor.
I will also say that lead and carbon build-up just seems to melt right off the gun.
I've used Hoppes #9 and Break-Free for the last 30 years with a smattering of others when those two weren't available. I am just finishing up my first bottle of Gunzilla, and I'm a total convert. I am ordering more tonight.
The older I get the more I think about the levels of toxic exposure I get. No need to introduce more neurological bad stuff if it can be avoided. I like the non-toxic formulation of Gunzilla. I think it's worth the expense for that alone. But it just seems to clean better and keeps dust and dirt away from my guns better too.
Love Ballistol (but gotta watch use with soft metals e.g., gold leaf and nickle plating), but I prefer Gunzilla . . . almost no smell.
