Your top 3 cleaning chemicals?
I was just wondering what 3 chemicals you use the most while cleaning your firearms? As for me I use the following:
1. Hoppes - I use this for a basic quick clean, wipe down, lube and sometimes for detailing.
2. CLP Break Free - This stuff works wonders for breaking up stuck on carbon and really well for a detail clean. Also works great for breaking up rust spots.
3. MIL-SPEC grease pots - I love this stuff to lube up and make parts slide like butter (especially in my older surplus military rifles). This stuff works better then any oil I've ever used to lube moving parts.
I use others, but these are my top 3 go to cleaners and lubes.
A side note, I also find vinegar is excellent for breaking up gunk in your barrel. What you do is take your barrel off. Then you plug the side of the barrel with the feed ramp with something like clay or even soften candle wax. Make sure the wax is hard before you begin, and make sure it is sealed with a test first lest you make a huge mess. Pour some vinegar into the barrel from the muzzle end until it is full. Let is sit over night upright (or about 12 hours), then drain it. Take the plug out. Run a snake with some oil first, then again with a solvent of your choice a few times (I prefer Break Free). The one more time dry... then voila, you have a squeaky clean shiny new barrel.
