Gun cleaning mat?
What do you guys lay your stuff on? towel? nylong bag? specific mat?
Keep getting bitched at when I clean my guns at the dining table, but it's the best lighting and most comf place to do it lol...
Just trying to get some ideas so I can lay something in between
I was thinking like a smooth green mat or some sort. with green all the parts should be easy to see as well. I don't want something that can absorb the oil that I applied on the gun. something non absorbent perhaps? (our dining table has tiles, so it's stone, which works perfect)
The reloading table is too high, and I don't feel comf cleaning them there, chair is better than stool. :D

Glock makes a nice rubber mat that protects the table and the weapon. I cover mine with some newspaper so that any oil spills don't get on the mat or the table.

I use a bag that a pillow came in. Plastic one one side and soft material on the other. Lays flat and is plenty large. Lay the plastic side down and no mess on the table. Works great. Got a spare too.

I got a cheap little card table. Light, portable, and expendable.

Flattened out Walmart bags work ok. Something I just thought of, Walmart sells thin flexible plastic cutting boards for just a few bucks. They come in a pack of 3, in different colors. These are really thin flexible sheets of plastic that would be easy to wipe off.

I use these for gun cleaning and all kinds of other things around the house and shop.

Pads that come from nursing homes and hospitals. They are about 2' x 2.5', thick, absorbent and impervious to fluids soaking through the underside. Quilted cotton on one side and a nylon-type material on the other.
Yes, I wash them before using them.

That gives me another idea. Go to Lowes and buy some of that black tool box liner material.

I used newspapers for the longest time. Then I bought one of those gun cleaning mats. I still cover the table in newspapers though. As far as I can recall I never had anything soak through a couple sections of newspaper onto the table. Honestly don't really worry about it all that much since I doubt gunzilla will actually hurt the table anyway.

I've had gunzilla get on our table. Didn't hurt it. We just spray some general household cleanser on it and wipe it up (like windex general surface cleaner). We don't have a fancy table, but none of it has hurt the finish.
