- Make sure its unloaded, safe, blah blah
- Pull down on slide release "buttons" and remove slide
- Remove recoil spring and barrel

It is essential to decock the striker before takedown.

The manual says to remove the backstrap. Most owners simply clear the pistol and pull the trigger. Some of us only drop the striker on a snap cap to reduce wear on the plastic parts of the striker assembly (keeper and striker guide).
