How many rounds did you shoot? Have you cleaned the gun since? Check under the ejector for "dirt" build up that can bind the cylinder.

Cylinder spins tried cleaning the ejector only shot 25 rounds. Still will not spin when trigger is pulled.

Is this a brand new 642? And are you saying you can pull the trigger, but the cylinder does not rotate?

Check the ammo still in the cylinder. Sometimes if the bullets aren't crimped tight enough the recoil from firing will "walk" the bullets forward out of their cases. If it goes out too far it will slam into the side of the forcing cone as it's trying to rotate. This will seem like it's locked up.

I guess I should have asked if it's not spinning even if it's empty.

Yep, check the internal lock. If it's only got 25 rounds through it and you haven't been playing with the lock send it back.

It will not rotate empty or loaded. I tried cleaning it and looked in the gap and do not see the rachit lever not engage the cylinder. Tried the key thing. Sending it back to S & W.
