Workaround for "Mark Forums Read" error found.

First I want to say that this is NOT a complaint against DC or its admins in any way. Just meant to be informational.

I really rely on the "New Posts" and then "Mark Forums Read" links on a forum to keep caught up. However, DC gives me a security token error.

I've tried doing the clear cache, logout, delete cookies solution but to no avail. So, I made a bookmark (I use FireFox 3.6) that I entitled "DC - Mark all read". The link in the bookmark is this javascript code:

    javascript:location.replace("http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?do=markread&markreadhash=" + document.forms[0].securitytoken.value)

This link seems to work for me. All it does is redirect the browser to the normal "Mark All Read" link with the inclusion of your current session security token variable.

Hope this helps and doesn't violate any forum rules or cause technical issues.

I agree, I too use the "New Posts" and "Mark Forums Read" links extensively. Apparently this is a known issue with vBulletin 3.8. In fact, there is a sticky on how to correct the code in the support forum over at vBulletin.com

Nope, does not violate any forum rules. If it works for people, by all means do it until I can get the below changes made, probably on Tuesday night. We do not, of course, accept any responsibility for anything other whacky problem it may cause....

Not really a vacation, we're trying to buy a small farm property in Missouri. The gerbils will have to wait.....

    A gerbil rancher?

Would that be considered an economic indicator?

I don't think you'll get much of either out of a gerbil.

Please let me know once you've fixed this problem. I still get the message every time even after trying to fix it per your instruction.
