    If you are having trouble logging in....

    I have received a lot of email from people that cannot log into the forum. I cannot replicate the problem nor see any reason in member records why this is happening. I have asked the question at the vBulletin support forum and am waiting for an answer. In the meantime, there are couple of things that MAY help. They are listed below.

    Those of you that cannot get logged in need to understand, however, that you have not been banned which seems to be what the bulk of those with the problem believe. We are simply having some problems caused by the upgrade, which I am trying to work through as fast as possible. You also need to know that I do not have time to answer each email I have received (about 120 so far) explaining the problems.

    If this resolves your problem, or not, let us know here so we'll know.

    5. Open your browser;

    6. Log into the forum. You should be using http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulletin/ as THE only link into the forum;

    7. Try the action that you were attempting when you received the permissions problem again.

    The issue is that the page changed a bit, Bumper. That was my problem as well.

    It used to be http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulletin/

    Now it is http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulletin/forum.php.

    I just tried the former, and it seems to be working now. Something changed from a few hours ago.

    What happened before is that one would attempt to log in, and it would allow the individual to log in. Right after this, though, they would receive an "insufficient privileges" message, such as what happens when a non-privileged user tries to access a deleted thread or such.

    But at any rate, it seems to have been fixed now. The old way seems to work now, although I have updated my bookmark anyway.

    The "home" page still gives an error, however:
    http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulletin/content.php

    Code:
    paul34, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

       1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
       2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

    As I said, use ONLY http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulletin/ as a link. The "forum.php" will be added automatically.

    When the "Home" is fixed and available, the http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulletin/ link will add "content.php" to the end by default instead of "forum.php".

    Use ONLY http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulletin/ as a link.

    Bumper, I don't know if you want to do it this way but if you change the cookie prefix in config.php it will force everyone to log in again and get a fresh cookie. It cut down considerably on my "can't log in", or "stay logged in" messages.

    I've been running 4.0 since December, if I can help in any way I will.
