    Unauthorized account access

Wanted to give people a heads up. Someone from Dublin, Ohio just tried to access my account. I don't know what they were looking for, but they tried. Keep an eye on your accounts. The i.p address was 174.252.194.242

My account on defensive carry. I don't know what they would gain other than being able to post spam using my account.

Someone hacked me a while back and changed my signature & said something VERY derogatory. When I found out I fixed it and changed my password.

I changed my password. I just wanted to make others aware, so they would watch their account activity.

Could be. It's a shame that they would sink that low if it is an anti.

FWIW I had someone hack into my gmail account and use it to spam everyone. I told my browsers NOT to store my new password. I've not had any accounts compromised except the ones that my browser "remembers" for me. Just somethin to consider. I don't feel that my passwords are safe when stored in Internet Explorer.

I don't save my passwords on internet explorer for that reason. And I change my passwords regularly. They weren't able to get into my account here. I just wanted to make others aware.

How did you know they tried? and how did you find out their IP address? I'm fairly computer literate. Can build a system from scratch, but I don't know anything about stuff like that.

When someone tries to access your defensive carry account it sends you an email after so many failed tries. In the email, it provides the i.p address of the person attempting to access the account. All you have to do is search online for an i.p address lookup and it will give you a general location of the i.p address.

which might or might not be where they live :P
I've been told that mine shows up in Missouri......coz that's where Charter cable is, not where I am.

I just banned that IP. If they try again with that IP, it should prevent them from doing anything. I also did a search on the IP to be sure it was not another member trying to crack your account. It wasn't.
