Guilty as charged.
But I still think it was a civil discussion and while not within the bounds of the initial warnings, certainly maintained within the bounds of the general rules of this board.
I'm in favor of gun control -- I think every citizen should have control of a gun.

@JD and the other mods:
Please consider that when you outright close a thread or make it disappear that not only are you punishing the large number of members who do respectfully follow the rules and requests of mgmt but also giving an inordinate amount of power to those who choose not to. Perhaps a more targeted approach would be more beneficial to all?

Action: Closed Thread
This is what I'm talking about regarding constant monitoring and actions. This is not taking into account the level of infractions, warnings, etc. resulting from those threads.
If we were to address each and every issue, we'd need a team of 30 moderators sending Pms for two days straight.
I'm the guilty one who posted the CNN article that had the foul language warning that closed the thread apparently. I certainly would never post any inappropriate language. Rules or no rules it's just not my style.
I posted the link because it was a critical element of the evidence that could change the entire foundation of the case against Zimmerman. I thought it was a 'game changer'.
Sorry to all that I ruined the thread with the foulness of my post.

For someone, such as yourself, who has been a contributing member of this forum, a ban would be extreme to say the least. I would hope that consideration of that tactic isn't something taken lightly.
This subject has drawn a lot of newbies to the forum and many of them wouldn't care (or worse) if the thread were to disappear.

unfortunately, this issue will inspire heated debates on both sides of the issue. People will get out of line because they feel passionately about the situation. It is hard to keep an open mind when it comes to things about which you feel so strongly.

Glad it was closed, with so many minds already made up it'd be a shame to confuse them with any facts that may come out.
Thanks JD for the clean up in isle 6.
I stayed out of the Z discussion but stayed on top of the posts.
I typed up my opinion more than once, but "double clutched" after rethinking and just refreshed the page...

As always, this board is a privately owned website, and we are here at the invitation of the owners, mods and admins. I just did my "get home from work and peruse the new posts routine" and this place looked like the Armageddon of closed posts. I've been here a while, and have never seen the mods close so many threads. But I have also been here long enough that they wouldn't be doing so without a good reason.

I have a question. One of the posts that caused an issue was a CNN link that had a warning. Now I understand about posting things that are not family friendly or obvously links to adult sites or questionable sites. But I fail to understand how a link to a news site is contrary to the forums rules. It is news.
Maybe I am misunderstanding the policy about no adult material. I would think anything in the news (with appropriate warning) would not be a problem.
Not questioning the mods decision. I just don't understand.
The rule in question is this:
The issue is where do we draw the line and make exceptions? If we let person A get a way with something and them come down on person C, person C is going to point to A and ask why he gets a pass.4. As a family-friendly forum, we ask that you keep your language clean, exactly as we hope you would when addressing respected elders. Creative workarounds (the use of special characters to replace some letters) on language are not allowed. Violators of this rule will be warned once; those repeatedly breaking this rule will have their accounts permanently revoked. NOTE: Links to off site material will be held to our family-friendly standard, as well.
We try very hard to keep a level playing field and apply the rules evenly, otherwise we're not being fair to the members that have received punitive actions.
