    Ideas for Forum?

I don't know if there is a special way we can make suggestions to the forum, but I have an idea for a sub-forum that I think would be a good fit and addition to DefensiveCarry.

The sub-forum would be DIY (do it yourself) and intended to cover things like making your own holster, working with kydex, building stuff from scratch (or kits) or other things. I recently posted something regarding kydex and the only close sub-forum was the reference and how-to forum. That forum requires approval, or moderation for something to be posted there.

I am a DIY kinda guy, I much prefer to do things myself if I can. So I hope the mods or whoever controls the forum gives it some thought.

I would definitely like a DIY thread. I have some questions about making my own holsters, gunsmithing, etc.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing about annoying members...

    As for the reference section:
This forum contains particularly useful "reference" and "how to" threads/posts aggregated here from other areas of the forum. Material must be nominated for inclusion. New threads are moderated and will not show up until approved by staff.

Most threads are copied here and will contain only posts that are considered, by forum staff, to contain reference quality material; never complete threads. If you would like to see the original thread, you can do a search and locate it quite easily.

To nominate a thread for possible inclusion here, either send a PM to Bumper with the URL to the thread/post or use the "report" function. Please specify that the report is for a nomination for inclusion in this forum. Please be patient for your nomination to be included here, it may take a few days.

For those members that want to create a reference thread specifically for this area, you can either open a new thread here or open it in the appropriate forum and "report" it for inclusion here. The latter is preferred. Again, please be patient for your nomination to be included.

You also need to keep in mind that items considered for this forum will be required to meet all published forum rules. Links to videos or other published works must not be to a website that contains content that is contrary to our rules, including content contained in banners or other advertising. Audio and video content violating our rules, which is admittedly strict by today's standards, will not be approved for inclusion here. Since this area is meant as a reference, we will most likely edit the thread title to best explain the content of the thread and make it easier for content to be found. Spelling and grammar corrections will be made as appropriate, as well.

All threads included here are closed (locked) as they are not intended for comments as the original threads of the forum are.
There have been a couple DIY Kydex threads/posts that have made it into the reference section.

If the member base can keep a thread on this running with good content, we can probably just make it a sticky in the holster section and go from there. Until there is enough content to justify a new sub-forum, I doubt we'd add one.

You could just try manually looking in the reference section, it's not that large...

Kydex was just one example, what about AR's and leather holster making, and shooting benches and moving targets...? any and all DIY data related to the DC focus is what I am interested in; to discuss and share info and ask questions.

Isn't that what comes with your drawing your weapon against someone fixing to do you harm? You intensely educate your aggressor while resorting to defensiveness.
