"New Posts" list does not include Off Topic Sections

While on a desktop or laptop, I click on "New Posts" and none of the posts from the Off Topic section are included. I have to click on Active Topics to see them all. When going to Active Topics, I cannot see topics I have participated in.

Is there a setting I need to click on to fix this, or is this just the way it is?

I have always understood that this is intentional for some reason. I never asked why, though. I just drop in to the off topic section, then go to "new posts" when I'm done there.

I'm betting it's done for a purpose. The focus of the forums is, after all, carrying for defensive purposes. And the off-topic threads are, by definition, not really that. So, I can see why "new" defensivecarry posts would exclude things almost surely to be something else.

After all, it's simple enough to click on the Off Topic forum header to get the full list of that stuff, or on the Active Topics link.

If I recall OT/H is not indexed in the site search index hence it's topics don't show in new topics.

Sent via Tapatalk and still using real words.

    Gee thanks !
You inadvertently solved an issue of mine without even trying.
I have been using the "Active Topics" icon.
I don't want to sort thru the non firearms related nonsense.
Ill be using the "Whats New" icon from now on.

Just as a side note... Remember ALL the forum rules still apply in the Off Topic section, even if it isn't indexed with the rest of the forum. Just saying since we tend to have a lot of infractions out of that area.

    Well that explains it.
I only click New Posts when I am here. I get Bob & Terry's, but didn't realize I was not seeing other threads that were OT. Now I know why this forum seems to stay on topic more than others. I've been missing out on a whole OT forum, lol.
Don't worry, I'll try not to resurrect any OT threads older than five years...
