It is unfortunate that we have people in this world who feel compelled and empowered to have control in private forums to which the content in how something is talked about on such debatable topics is carried out, i.e. such as carrying concealed and use of firearms in the matters of self defense and how a person who is wrongfully accused of a crime will not stand idly by without making a stand in his defense regardless of the outcome of a criminal case. Understandably, the First Amendment is meant to keep the government from limiting the media, but "Administrators" should feel as though private forums should be no different when speaking about the 2nd Amendment regardless of what position the commentor may take. It appears to be ok for some members to make boorish comments, but not others to point out there ignorance. But, no doubt I'm one step closer to being barred on this site because I have challenged and don't agree with the "Administrator" who feels he can say the last word in making insults against its members with ignorant comments because he owns this site. So Bumper, how does it feel to be in control? Go Bumper, Go! I'll be surprised if this will even get posted or stay up long! Although my account will surely be deleted, but I will be resurrected! Ha ha.
I like this forum for its standards and the accountability it requires of its members. I like the rules and the staff is second to none. Hats off to Bumper! :congrats:
I appreciate the fact that this forum has repsonsible moderation. I have been guilty of breaking the rules before. I was sent a quick and professional PM to let me know what I had done wrong and was expected not to do it again. The situation was rectified and no further problems. Some people are just bound to be a problem case. Good riddance to a bad apple in the barrel.
You should start a new web site and create your own discussion forum filled with useful information, great threads about equipment and firearms. That would show everyone here you are right and really make your point. Boy, I bet the moderators here would feel pretty silly if you did that. Let us know when it's up and running.
Like I said in Treo's original post, "There's more to the story". Of course that led to a nasty PM from Shawn this past weekend. Thanks for hitting "Del" Bumper.
Unfortunately Jerks happen, it's amazing the number of pasty faced losers that develop an elevated opinion of themselves that they go on private forums and say whatever they choose then cry first amendment. The good part is they are in the minority as compared to the sane forum members.
In the event you get temporarily "resurrected" I'm sure you'll rush here to read this thread. Here's my contribution to you.
1. Take a moment to reflect that if you can't abide by the simple rules of an internet forum, you should consider staying away from firearms......firearms require you to follow rules as well. An error in judgement on an internet forum gets you kicked out; an error with a firearm gets you or someone else killed or injured. Consider yourself lucky and you now have the opportunity to use this as a learning experience.
2. I think your Situational Awareness may be poor. You aren't in the "thinking process" to analyze those folks around you. We are real people, we aren't just words being typed. You've seriously misjudged the owner and other members here.
3. I like how this forum is run, and I donate to support it. When the moderators start letting in the low-class language as you suggested, "There are worse words being used on cable at 6 pm", then I'll quit. But that's not going to happen here, because we're still here and you're gone.
I'm not an English major, but has anyone ever mentioned the words "run-on sentence" or "paragraph structure" to you? Oops, forgot those rules probably aren't important to you either.
Hats off to the staff for keeping things clean and professional. I moderate at a gaming community and we do get a lot of people who seem to think for some strange reason that the First Amendment allows them to say and do whatever they want on our forum/game servers. They find out otherwise quickly.
In all fairness we get a lot of people who are just there to troll due to our being a Christian community, but our ban management system's ban log currently holds 8323 entries.
And I like "suicide by moderator." Kind of catchy. Again, kudos to the staff. Keep up the good work fellas.
I gotta admit, I would like to talk about some of the topics that are "no no's" but I do understand why they are not aloud. I catch myself getting carried away with political discussions and I'm pretty level headed... it's just one of those topics for me. ...Now imagine hundreds of folks all doing it at the same time? It would be like a thread riot and I'm sure admins would get tired of bringing out the fire hose all the time.
...Oh, and while I'm in your house bumper, ...could I use the bathroom?!!! :INBath2Urinal:
They don't use fire hoses they use pepper bombs and bean bags :bigun2:
I don't know about the rest of you but I come here to get info about CCW, OC and SA or training. If I want to argue politics I can do that at work on breaks :22a:
I still don't see his point about 1st ammendment Vs DC.com... I mean this is Bumper's forum not the United states of Bumper....although that sounds pretty cool :bier:
That is true, I just meant how it sneaks in there and grows. ...and I can't argue about politics at work. Believe it or not, we're all on the same page at my job! Hm, probably because we all have one. ...oh well, who knows.
Wow, that's strange. it's a normal address, and the site is almost identical to this one in format. I'm even using a Gov/Mil internet, a NIPR net and I still get here and there. ...I NOT saying you should, but Googling that issue seems to have solutions.
Can't follow the rules or learn to follow the rules?
