1st Amendment vs. 2nd Amendment in private forums
It is unfortunate that we have people in this world who feel compelled and empowered to have control in private forums to which the content in how something is talked about on such debatable topics is carried out, i.e. such as carrying concealed and use of firearms in the matters of self defense and how a person who is wrongfully accused of a crime will not stand idly by without making a stand in his defense regardless of the outcome of a criminal case. Understandably, the First Amendment is meant to keep the government from limiting the media, but "Administrators" should feel as though private forums should be no different when speaking about the 2nd Amendment regardless of what position the commentor may take. It appears to be ok for some members to make boorish comments, but not others to point out there ignorance. But, no doubt I'm one step closer to being barred on this site because I have challenged and don't agree with the "Administrator" who feels he can say the last word in making insults against its members with ignorant comments because he owns this site. So Bumper, how does it feel to be in control? Go Bumper, Go! I'll be surprised if this will even get posted or stay up long! Although my account will surely be deleted, but I will be resurrected! Ha ha.

I like the controls here, and there are more appropriate places to let it all pour out, just not here...

Okay, Shawn, you're no longer here but for the record, I think it's important that people know how this went down. Maybe if he had changed the way he acted in certain circumstances he would not have found himself in the unfortunate predicament that he is now in. I believe it is called a "life in shambles".
One of Shawn's quotes from the original thread regarding his "situation":

After one of our staff removed this post, I sent him a PM:

To which he replied:

At this point, he posted this thread. I guess his biggest complaint was that he didn't like us editing his language which was against the rules that he agreed to when he joined the forum.
To be fair, I have to agree that I didn't like the "tone" of the thread regarding his "problems". It sounded too much like a court where our membership was trying him and he was forced to defend himself all over again. People were jumping on him without really knowing the facts of the case. be that as it may, he brought on the name calling of our membership and some of the people involved and has now become just another "ex-member".

No, you are barred entry to this site because you broke our rules and then committed "suicide by moderator". It's really not uncommon these days.

As in real life, there is no resurrection. You can certainly sneak back in but you will always be found and removed. Be creative. We really like a good challenge. Rather than do that, you might simply want to take a long hard look at yourself, your actions and your immaturity and try to make some changes....

I moderate another forum for a non-profit charitable organization which is one reason I'm on the computer all the time; easy to flip back and forth.
It always amazes me that there are folks who come onto my other forum in a hostile and angry way, often demanding, condescending of the staff and the organization, and then they wonder why their IP address, user name, email address etc. get banned.
It has nothing to do with free speach. It is Bumper's House and his rules, and we are all guests.

I had been following his post since he first logged in. It seemed he came in with an attitude. If his approach to telling his side of the story here is any indication of how he approached his job, there isn't much doubt why he was in trouble.

I have seen a forum "die" a terrible death because moderators would not just eliminate some posters who were way out of hand, calling people all types of names, making insults, threats and being extreme antagonists. They were stirring up things intentionally alot of the time. They never got the point after having a few temporary bans put on them. I've never seen something get as out of hand and stupid in my life as that one did. I, as many old forum members, quit going to the forum. It has now come back after 5 yrs of absence.
Soooooo, I can understand the need to stop it immediately and not let it grow any life at all in the forum. For that, my hats off to Moderators who some times have to be the bad guy for the better good. Some moderaters are more tactful than others, but the point is the same ... keeping it civil.

If he doesn't like the forum rules, he can go start his own forum elsewhere. There's plenty of room in cyberspace.
