New little pocket rocket..... meant to be?

    Sorry for the long story...

About a year ago I was in a local gun shop when a little mouse gun for some reason just caught my eye. I would look at it then move on only to come back and look at it more... It was a Beretta Jetfire .25ACP it was pre 1968 as it had no safety. The little bugger seemed to call for me. My mind said "man *** you don't need that.".... for several days it was there It was a daily routine to stare at it but alas I did not get it. A week later it was gone.

Fast forward 4 months... It comes back in trade. Of course it shows up when money is tight... I could afford it but I decided to sleep on it.... next day its gone... ah ****! I am once again sad

Yesterday.... ITS BACK?!?!?. I finally ask to see if its the same one as before... yup. I ask whats up with it? He told me the first person bought it for his father who passed away 4 months later and his wife wouldn't let him keep it. The second guy traded in for a bigger gun. I ask to look at it and ask if I can field strip it to give it a lookin over. He said "absolutely!" I do and find its still in great shape... dirty but functional. The barrel has some very minor pits but muzzle and rifling is still perfect. This must be fate. I told him its mine and hope he won't miss it cause this little gun won't be back

Paid for it, FBI check passed, its now in my possession. Spent 3 hours rubbing and scrubbing. No surprises . I can't believe how freekin simple this little guy is! Blow back design, no extractor, recoil spring actuates barrel flip lever too... test fired several rounds for function, no malfunctions at all. I may not carry this little guy and I still don't know why I bought it but I'm still happy I did for some reason

There is something about firing 4,200 thirty millimeter rounds/min that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I understand. It's that same irrational appreciation of firearms that makes me want a Vaquero. Until I retire on my ranch in 10 years, I know I'll never carry it. It doesn't stop me from hesitating every time I see one.

    Congratulations!

    Love those little Berettas.

And WHEC724, I understand you too. Even though I have no practical use for it. I want a Colt SAA. I don't know why. I just want it.

    heh

Its the first Beretta I have ever owned. I would vote practical BUG for someone recoil sensitive to the pocket 380's

Heck I could practically conceal this thing in my .44 mag cylinder.

I bought a CZ-1945 for the same reason. It was too cool to pass up. Basically obsolete in 25acp, though they still sell it overseas as the CZ-92 but not enough points for US import under GCA of '68. Man I wish CZ would upgrade it to a 380 and manufacture it here. The basic design has held the test of time and ended up in the Seecamp pocket pistols which are well-reputed.

Gun love I know the feeling. my friend loves his tomcat..
You may not like guns. You may choose not to own one. That is your right.
You might not believe in God. That is your choice.
However, if someone breaks into your home at 3AM the first two things you are going to do are:
    1) Call someone with a gun.
2)Pray they get there in time." - A wise man

    I can identify!

There was a very early P230 .380 that made a couple of round trips back to a shop I frequent.

It just kept calling my name.

Finally, had to give the poor orphan a home & TLC.

Great little gun. I can see why it kept calling your name.

Because I watched too much Man From UNCLE as a kid, I am the proud owner of a Walther P-38. The only reason I don't have the stock is because I couldn't find one.

I have yet to find a THRYSH scope for my rifles....
