    Which Guns Would you Pick?

    I'm Looking to get into 3 gun matches and thought it would be interesting to see what specific model gun you prefer for each category, Rifle, Shotgun, Pistol and WHY??

    So let's have at it - What are the models you choose in each category and please elaborate on WHY you selected your picks. Obvioulsy, you dont need to have them, just which ones would you like to have for each category?

    Here are my pics...

    Rifle = AR15
    Shotgun = Saiga 12 or Saiga 20
    Pistol = Glock 19

    Rifle = WASR-10 (I know, I know, But I'm good with it and it's reliable!)
    Reason I chose, reliable and I can operate it well.

    Shotgun = Saiga 12
    Reason I chose, I never shot one but I hear good things.

    Pistol = SA-XD .45Acp
    Reason I chose, reliable, accurate, my fav. firearm.

    Bushmaster AR15, Remington 870 Express, Glock 19.
    Our club holds several 3 gun matches each year. I've got to make on of those someday.

    Specifically for the 3-gun match format (choices will differ for "real world" situations) -

    Rifle - a good AR with a mid-length barrel & gas system (16 inch +/-), simply because I s
    hoot these better than the shorter M4 clones. I'd be happy with my CMMG or a LMT, Noveske or Bravo Company.

    Shotgun - Remington 1100, because these have been around forever, they're reliable and there's a lot of aftermarket stuff available for them.

    Handgun - tough one. I'm not fully aware of the rules so I don't know if a high-cap 1911 is allowed,; if so, I'd probably pick a Para-Ord in .45. I'd skip the 9mm because of its minor power factor. Next choice would be a regular 1911 like a Springer TRP, then I'd be flipping a coin to choose among a Glock, XD or M+P.

    I assume we're taking defensive firearms here.

    Rifle - AK-47
    Simple, failproof, large capacity.

    Shotgun - Rem 870 12 ga with mag tube extension.
    Deadly at close range, large capacity, scary as hell when you hear that Ka-chunk in the night. You know someone means business.

    Handgun - Glock 21
    Large capacity, better-than-good power, simple and reliable.

    Now that I've said that, I don't own any of them.

    What I have is:

    Rem 700 in 30-06
    Best all-around rifle cartridge ever. Excellent range compared to Aks and ARs. If I can see you, you're dead.

    Rem 1100 12 ga.
    No Ka-chunk, and still need that extended mag tube. But still deadly.

    Glock 30
    Good capacity, still simple and reliable, proven .45 auto power.

    R - Colt LE6920 because of its light weight and high quality relative to other AR-15s

    S - Mossberg 500/590 because of its high reliability and the position of the slide release and safety. Also very inexpensive shotguns; great value for the money

    P - SIG P229 in .40 because I like its heavy-duty feel and the way it points in my hands. Some like the Glocks and Springfields more; whatever pistol you get I would go with .40 or .45 for better stopping power.
