I carry a XD 45 and have noticed that it has dust bunnies crawling around in the cracks and crevices. How often do you experts clean your carry weapon?
Thanks,
Mike

Seems like compressed air would get it out if it bugs you....otherwise, doesn't really seem like much of a big deal.

I blow mine out with compressed air, and lubricate, biweekly.
Once a week as usually shoot my EDC weekly.
I clean mine every time I shoot it, if I go a couple of weeks in a row without shooting it, I'll clean it up just so I have some interaction with it, don't want it to think I have someone else.![]()
Frequent shooting scares the "dust bunnies" away...
I shoot my array of carry guns once a month and clean them after every range trip.

I clean/lube mines every other week. The last thing that I need is my gun to dry up on me and FTE if things go south.

EVERYDAY!! yes, thats right. But I shoot at least 50rds everyday. My other guns get cleaned maybe weekly or bi-weekly. The ones I shoot often anyway. The others that just sit in the safe and never get used are basically just lubed up to protect the metal once every month or so.
I am anal about my firearms. Its truly a love affair, and some people have even called me OCD about it! I'm not that anal as to completely break down or detail strip my EDC everyday, but I do that once a week, on Saturday nights. My everyday clean on my EDC is usually a field strip, AP brush scrub, wipe and Q-tip, lube, and reassemble. Takes me about 20 minutes minimum.
Keep a can of compressed air handy to keep the dust bunnies at bay. I would suggest shooting your EDC at least once a month, more if possible. Then clean it after you shoot it. In between, hit it with some air every other week or so. The XD, much like the Glock, is a reliable weapon that won't jam with some lint in the trigger. It's a pretty robust platform, so I wouldn't obsess over it.

Definitely after every shoot without fail and if I don't shoot, a good wipe down at least bi-weekly.

Since I shoot it almost weekly, it gets cleaned weekly. It gets cleaned any time more than 10 shots go through the pipe.

I clean after shooting, and if it looks like it needs it, whenever it looks like it needs it. I don't used any fixed schedule.
