If it is stored properly, small arms ammo will be reliable for at least 70-80 years. Keep ammo in a cool place, if possible. My ammo is stored in Army surplus ammo cans except for that which came in sealed metal cans. I have .45-70 military ammo that was made for gatling guns in the 1880-1890s: About every other round fires.
My 100 year old .30 Army (.30-40) ammo has about two duds out of five. I have other commercial and military ammo in many calibers that is over 80 years old. Recently I came into several thousand rounds of military .45 auto ammo that was made in the 1930s: Every round fires.
Most of my old ammo is corrosive or suspected of being corrosive. It gets fired anyway and the gun gets cleaned very soon after firing.
