I beg to differ. There are these two as well:

Gun Owners of America (Some would say better than the NRA)

    and

Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (No, you don't have to be . . )

That's interesting that you would mention these two, I was going to ask what others had heard about GOA. I don't know much about them, and would like to hear others opinions about the group.
What the **** - How did I end up on this soapbox again?!?!?

I belong to NRA and GOA. I try to send them money every once in a while. In my opinion, these groups are the only reason private citizens still enjoy the RIGHTS of the 2nd Amendment.

The NRA must spend a bundle on the junk mail and contest.I wish they would put that money to better use. They seem to be the one with the most clout. I wish they had a better running list of the antis in the state and federal offices so we can do a better job of voteing them out.

To be a legal gun owner and not belong to the NRA is the equivelant of being pond scum.

That is just my opinion, but I think it's pretty clear as to if you should join or not.

Join the N.R.A. if you own a gun. Nothing is perfect in our world; but, this Association does great work.
