    Multiple reasons for firearm ownership

It's a safe bet to state that most members of this forum own weapons for lawful defensive purposes.

We carry handguns to protect ourselves and others, we own rifles & shotguns to keep the homestead safe. Other gun owners use their weapons for hunting, shooting sports or collecting.

A common bond that all gun owners can be united is RKBA.

Any organized event calling for the gun owning community to rally support for their 2A rights should be mindful of the diversity of those members.

Other should have been personal protection. That is why I own my firearms. I enjoy shooting but I enjoy ice skating and playing ice hockey a lot more.

    I voted other.

I also checked "other" as I think guns are a sound investment. Every day in the "sporting goods" section of the newspaper ads, many guns are offered for sale. Most of them are listed for well over what you can buy one for brand new. I'm not sure why someone would pay more than they would at a gun shop, unless they could not pass a background check. Most of the ads say CCL required. And, if the SHTF, black market guns will be worth a fortune.

Would defense against governmental attack fit into 'lawful defensive purposes'?

My wife use to put food on the table for her and her daughter years back, that's why she came to this relationship with a Marlin 30/30. She use to go hunting with one of her brothers and that's what she stocked up her freezer with.

I got back into guns after my uncle said he bought a few and went to the range. Basically, he peaked my curiosity again and eventually I bought 2. SD was primary but nothing is more fun than going to the range and shooting targets for awhile. I have to admit that Florida is rather boring and the dating scene totally sucks for me. So, I shoot for fun and meet some nice people at the range on occasion. There you have it, thats my reply and I'm sticking to it!

The question was what do you own firearms for besides protection.
Im pretty sure everyone here has firearms for defensive reasons, given the webpage name. .

Besides defence I just love the sport of shooting. Mainly target/ bullseye. I also enjoy the other aspects of gun ownership. Taking them apart, reloading ammo, window shopping, research, etc
