For the black powder folks here

Not a black powder person myself, but love the history, and love firearms in general. Something I came across today that's real interesting to say the least. .700 Nitro Express? Wow!

    Good article.
At the Tulsa gunshow there was a 4 bore that I looked at. That was plenty big.

68 cal Revolutionary era flintlock is the biggest I have seen. Seen 2 of them. That one could likely use the 68 cal barrel as a ramrod!

Actually the standard British Military Brown Bess musket is .75 Cal. They're not very accurate, but if you managed to get hit by one it sure messed up your day!

You're not kidding. I always wondered how you died from a leg wound. I could put my thumb down the barrel with room to spare. I realized then it could just remove your leg.

Actually that is probably a whole new thread, but the short version is basically anytime the bone broke the skin it resulted in amputation (that would include something as a compound fracture from a fall).

There was no antibiotics, and no concept of germs back then, so it was lose the arm/leg, or die of the infection. That's assuming they didn't bleed out. There was also no such thing as "elective surgery" back then either!

Accidently fired both barrels of an African double in .458 Win Mag once. Have never fired that round again! 700 Nitro? No way, Jose! Better have good dental insurance.

The link is currently offline, from overuse of bandwidth.
Turn the election's in 2014 to a "2A Revolution". It will serve as a 1994 refresher not to "infringe" on our Second Amendment. We know who they are now.........SEND 'EM HOME. Our success in this will be proportional to how hard we work to make it happen.

I shoot at riffraff rebels with my .58 caliber Springfield rifle, while wearing warm woolen Union blue. It is a long rifled fun gun, and I have made the rebels run some, but it must not be that accurate because so few of them fall, surviving to dance at the balls.
