I've owned a couple of Ruger SP101's and they always seemed a bit heavy to me. This got me thinking about a Colt magnum carry which is basically the same size as their old D-frame i.e. detective special. I used to have a detective special with the shrouded barrel and didn't find it to heavy for OWB carry compared to the SP101. I know the magnum carry is a rare gun but I'm sure one can be found.
I always used a good gunbelt and holster as well but the dick special just seemed to not weight as much on my hip all day. So for those here who have owned both guns,do you feel the magnum carry is just as heavy as the Ruger or that the magnum carry pretty much weighs the same as the dick special?
Snub nose revolvers, the original concealed carry guns.
1911luver,the Colt Magnum is now very expensive to get and even find. Owners of these revolvers are asking sometimes over $1200.00 for them. If they are in original condition[mint] and have orig.box, papers and even receipts. It would be a good thing to look at the Don Hume website to see what kind of holsters they have or the others. I have the 715 model of holsters with and without strapsnaps. They conceal my Ruger SP101s just perfect. And when I am in my wheelchair, I carry mine in a fannypack. And plus you do not have to worry about side screw plates coming loose on the old Colt revolvers. Ruger doesnt have any. richgp100z
