If it's a truly good shoot age will not make it legal or not legal. Preservation of life isn't a aged based right. Now the parents may get some flack for endangerment for leaving a firearm accessible by a minor if the DA wants to get technical but that's not likely in a valid defense of life.

If under a reasonable threat of GBI or death, or less depending on local statutes, the shooting would be legal. Depending on your age and location, what might come under question is your access to the weapon.

Laws exist to keep kids from ownership and from generally keeping/carrying them, sometimes from accessing them. I have yet to see any statute that criminalizes an upstanding act of defense from a child merely because the tool successfully used was a firearm. There are a few examples in recent years of children taking control of the family's defensive gun and protecting the family with it.

Some time last year, a 14 old boy blasted his mom's abusive ex boyfriend with a .357, firing 4 shots into his chest, one through his arm and one missing.

Thug ran out of the house, got in his truck and went about a half mile down the road where he stopped when hit a telephone pole, dead right there.

    No charges were filed.

A "good shoot" is a good shoot. Inside one's home....... I doubt it'd be questioned much.

Age has nothing to do with the ability, freedom, and duty to protect life.

Absolutely. There are countless stores of a child effectively using a gun to defend themselves and others. The youngest I think was a 5 years old who shot and killed a rapist while he was on his mother

OK, thanks for the info guys. Yeah I figured that's the way it would play out. I was just wondering cause I'd heard in other instances you have to legally own a firearm before it can be self-defense, just wondered if that extended to age.

Yes. Parents may have to deal with violating the law on allowing access to minors afterwards (FL law), but the kid is still around!
