    Talking Best Graduation Party

I figured I'd share this experience with everyone on the board, as it was a great time.

In the past the idea of carrying a weapon hasn't really come up with my friends because I don't really let them know, but most are aware that I shoot regularly (as a hobby or something) and usually voice their discomfort, distrust, and general lack of respect for the armed citizen, they usually say the generic "why do you need a gun, what are you paranoid, there are cops, etc, etc etc" which I usually politely try to inform them of my position and it falls on deaf ears.

Well my best friend is fortunately one that adopts a similar viewpoint as me, he recently turned 21 and his older brother graduated college, so his dad (an avid shooter / carrier) had the great idea of having the grad / bday party at our local gun club. He managed to work it out with the President of the club to be present, and instruct everyone who was interested in shooting on safe handling of firearms, proper shooting technique, etc, it was a crash course but everyone got pretty good instruction from experienced shooters as they stepped up to the five targets we had set up, four were armed with my friend's dads 9mm makarov pistols, and when they were done with that, we allowed them to fire off my XD .45 and my SW 640 .357.

Needless to say everyone had a BLAST and it opened up the rest of the evening for these once deaf ears to be "all ears" about shooting, firearms, carrying, (you name it, it was probably discussed) and to be honest I'd say out of the lot of 30 or so of them, a really good handful will run with it, get educated and take the right steps to learning and owning a firearm. Even if just one of them was introduced to a future passion and hobby of firearms, I'd call it a successful evening.

It was a phenomenal way to introduce the sport and practice of shooting to a bunch of people who previously had no interest what so ever, males and females a like everyone had a great time and so did I.
