Just assuming that everyone with a gun is safe and responsible.
Or is this about dislike for Democrats and not at all a reasonable attempt to understand security for people who might be attacked?

The Secret Service is a group of first class control freaks...they have to be...
The Secret Service would do the same thing if the VPOTUS was Democratic or Republicans...and there is no higher authority you can complain to because its the person they are charged with protecting that you have to complain to...
Besides, who wouldn't want to party down with good old Joe...

True, but the next time you get in trouble with the wife for saying something dumb, you can say you caught it from Biden.

This is one of my peeves. I'd just have to leave. I view the POTUS and his minions no more or less important than the guy next door when it comes to putting a value on life and rights derived thereof.
But it's hard to argue your point when your face is mashed into the floor and an Uzi's pressed against your skull. Sometimes it's the right time to make a point, sometimes not. With the Secret Service, it's generally not. No sense of humor in that bunch.

The USSS used to carry UZI's. They were replaced several years ago by the MP-5.

Yup. I can't afford to lose too many more brain cells. When Biden leaves the room, the collective IQ increases an order of magnitude.

While they're securing your weapon...you could always pass the time with some light-hearted banter about the Iraqi shoe incident...

This is small scale on the things I have heard. I don't like it one bit. But there are folks around here that got all inclusive paid vacations to Dorothia Dix Mental Hospital in Raleigh while the VP was here, Bush Sr I think. They came in and asked for a list of all the regular customers of the local PD and mental wards. Some of them went away for a while. Definitely act first, look at the OC guy in Asheville. They are still jerking him around on a misdemeanor charge.
