Just read this in Concealed Carry Magazine. There have been discussions here. It happened to one of the USCCA members.
VPOTUS Biden came for a visit. SS team came in, announced the visit, then searched everybody. Our CCW man was pulled to the side and escorted to his car to secure his weapon. Page 8 of the May/June 2010 magazine.

The unannounced and unscheduled arrival of the VP does not suspend my personal right as an American to not be searched nor have my property seized without due cause.
I'd just excuse myself and leave.
If one of the SS detail happens to ask why, my reply is because I no longer want to be here and have other places to go. Period.
They have federalized police powers...But be that s it may I am not obligated to subject myself nor waive my right to refusal of what is effectively a baseless and pre-emptive (unlawful) Terry Stop.
As I am my own employer if a client were onsite here, I'd likely on the fly make up a cover story for them so as to allow myself opportunity to escape/evade.
This is still America and we _all_ are Americans, including the POTUS/VPOTUS and their security details.
Assuming I was not the owner of the location involved, I would tell the Secret Service that "I will leave, but you will not search me without a warrant or reasonable cause, and I doubt a jury would find the mere presence of Joe Biden would cause someone to go into a murderous frenzy." Then I would leave. If I were the owner, I'd tell the lot of them to leave.
Search or no search, I would still leave. I have no desire to be in the same room.

I'm sure details were left out.
Among the details left out is the fact that the SS probably informed everyone that they were going to have to be searched because the VP was coming...and that they didn't inform people that they had the right to refuse to be searched and either leave or be secured away from the VP.
Unfortunately in the USA, while we have rights...we are expected to:
A) Know what they are.
B) Know how to assert them.
Many people have no clue about what rights they are afforded in dealing with law enforcement...and even less about how to assert them.
But hey, if it doesn't involve the 2nd amendment, it's not worth learning about...

No surprise here.
Whenever the Prez (or other SS protected individuals) goes somewhere, that immediate area beomes federally-controlled property and subject to Federal laws, which can (and often does) include search and seizure. Note that the SS only escorted the individual to his vehicle to secure the firearm--they did not seize it. Once the VIP has left, the area is no longer Federal.
Recall the case (AZ?) where the man OC'd a rifle in the "vicinity" of the president, but the SS didn't nothing (to the amazement of the media and anti-gunners) because the man was outside the federal exclusion zone?
We all have the right "to leave" in such a case, and if you don't feel "secure" with dozens of Uzi-armed SSmen around, then exercise that right.
On a personal note, I'd leave also. That fool has nothing to say I want to hear.

I would be out the door as well when notified. I did not vote him and will not be voting for him to remain in '12.

This is one of my peeves. I'd just have to leave. I view the POTUS and his minions no more or less important than the guy next door when it comes to putting a value on life and rights derived thereof.
