    Colt Junior .22???

I have a coworker who owns just one gun. It was given to him some years ago by an 80 something year old gentleman. My coworker is trying to find it amongst the various strage boxes in his garage.

Between his description and exhausting my GoogleFu I'm thinking what he has is a Colt Junior .22short. I've pulled a picture up on my laptop for him of the Colt Jr....he says it looks exactly like that. However, he recalls there being some engraving on the slide that says "official police". I can't find anything on the web with a picture of this. In fact, I mostly find the Colt Jr in .25.

Do any of you know if this gun is very rare? I know, I know...photos. I'll post some when we find it....if we find it. Could any of you speculate on value, assuming good condition. I do know that he does not have a magazine for this and I've found them online for $50ish...if they are in stock. He's willing to part with it if we find it...but I don't want to overpay...and I don't want to screw on price him either. I'm interested because it just looks cool and would be an interesting addition to my small collection. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Keep in mind that this model was not made by Colt. If memory serves it was made by Astra for Colt.

I've never seen one in the flesh myself.

I didn't even know thay made them in .22. I had a partner that carried one in .25 for a BUG. I never thought much of it, my preference was a 1911.

Gunnybunny is right. The Colt Jr. was produced for Colt by Astra.

I used to have an Astra Cub which is the same pistol. It was reliable and actually a lot of fun.

The guns came chambered in either 22 short or 25 ACP. Most were made by Astra for Colt and roll marked Cold Junior. A nice one runs for about 275.00 to 325.00 (if it's really nice and has the box.
BTW Astra made a great many and marked them with ASTRA CUB on the slide
