Question Get Pistol from Michigan to Nevada

Hello, my wife and I live in Nevada and her parents live in Michigan. They are retired and have a revolver that they no longer want/need and would like to give to us.

I am wondering how I am supposed to get said firearm from Michigan to Nevada..??..

This is a private gifting and there is no money exchanging hands. Do I still need them to send it to a FFL dealer?

Any help you can provide would be great!!

Yes you do. They also need to send a letter to the State Police License Division telling them the details of the transfer since the gun is in their name.

Firearms may not be mailed or shipped interstate from one non-FFL to another non-FFL but may be shipped intrastate. Personally owned rifles and shotguns may be mailed or shipped to an FFL in any state for any lawful purpose, including sale, repair, or customizing. An FFL may ship a firearm or replacement firearm of the same kind and type to a person from whom it was received. Under U.S. Postal regulations, handguns may be sent via the Postal Service only from one FFL to another FFL, or between authorized government officials.
A person may ship a rifle or shotgun to himself, in care of a person who lives in another state, for purposes of hunting.
Firearms delivered to a common carrier for shipment must be accompanied by a written notice to the carrier of the contents of the shipment, if mailing to persons other than licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers, or licensed collectors. Notice to the carrier is not required when shipping to one of the licensed entities aforementioned. So you can NOT ship a HG across state lines to someone thats not a FFL holder, you do and get caught well we wont go there...

So from what I gather, my wives parents must go to a FFL dealer in their state and have them ship it to another FFL dealer in my state.

Will the FFL in Nevada make me do a background and wait 3 days??

If so, this law is completely unfair and unreasonable.. especially since I already own a handgun, that is registered, and the handgun in question is being gifted from parents...

    this is what i've found..

•Is there a State waiting period? No.

•Is there a FBI *NICS check for firearm transactions? State System.

•Permit to carry a concealed weapon required? Yes.

    •Record of sale: No.

So find a dealer near you and see what they will charge to accept the HG...
