Two vendors at the Florida Gun Show were injured over the weekend by another vendor who fired a shot into the concrete floor, Orlando police reported today.

Neither man was seriously hurt, nor struck directly by the bullet.

According to the incident report, an Orlando police officer who was working off-duty at the gun show Saturday heard a gunshot about 100 feet from where he was walking about 1:40 p.m.

He then saw two men, identified as Mark Morrison of Cape Canaveral and Robert Earle of Longwood, bleeding, the report said.

Morrison and Earle were vendors with Jack Jenkins of Brandon, who told Orlando police he was looking at a Colt .45 semi-automatic handgun and noticed the hammer was cocked back.

A police report said Jenkins told officers he directed the muzzle toward the floor and pulled the trigger without ensuring the firearm was clear and safe.

    The firearm then discharged.

Morrison suffered a laceration to the top of his left foot and Earle suffered a laceration to his left shin area. Both men were taken to area hospitals and treated.

    More vendors (not customers)...

    ND at gun show.

And the antis will hype it to ban carry by customers.

Why couldn't he pull the slide back to check it? There seems to be flaw in his logic of pulling the trigger to make sure it's safe.

And people wonder why gunshows post signs prohibiting carrying inside. I've seen it happen twice even when the facilities were posted. There are a whole lot of goofballs at every gun show who are a danger handling guns.

At least the one saving grace, he did have the muzzle pointed in a somewhat safe direction.

It would be VERY interesting to find out how a live round got into that chamber.

The vendor that pulled the trigger on a cocked gun without checking is a MORON and should be banned for life from participating in any gun shows

Wow, under this new concept I'll have to pull the trigger on my EDC 9+1 times to clear it!

In Colorado Springs they zip tie all the guns through the chamber. I've never heard of an ND at a gun show here (not saying it never happened)

I was working in a gun shop and one of our regular customers brought in about a dozen guns he wanted to put on consignment (he had just bought an estate's gun collection and his wife thought 300 guns were too many for 1 man to have). I was entering the guns into the inventory book and everyone in the shop were handling everything, including a couple tricked out ARs. As I picked up one AR I pulled the charging handle back and a live round fell on the counter top......everything when DEAD SILENT at the sound of brass on glass.

I have no idea how many times that thing changed hands and nobody found the live round. To be fair I don't think the extractor was over the rim and only because I had the muzzle elevated to inspect the chamber a-la "inspection arms" did the round fall out, but everyone in the shop had a real sheepish look on their faces.

Check the chamber EVERY time a gun comes into your hands, no matter how many people have checked it before you is something I always drill into a newbies head.
