It went "bump" in the night
or.. when is an Anti not an Anti
Been taking crap from my roommate lately about always carrying my gun with me wherever I go. Have heard the usual "we're JUST going to wal-mart" or "it's ONLY a mile away".
Anyway, last night he comes into my room and wakes me up around 2:30'ish saying he heard a noise that sounded like someone opening the back door and he thought someone was in the kitchen.
I get up and grab a pair of shorts to go check out the house, first thing out of his mouth before I walk out of my room was Do you have your gun?
Cleared the house, no problems, turns out that cast iron skillet I put on top of the dish rack really was too heavy, lol.. it had fallen and was in the kitchen floor.
Anyway, I got a huge chuckle out of it all after the fact, Mr. doesn't like guns now wants to hide behind me while I search the house for BG's, had to share my belly laugh..

This reminds me of something I read here.
People that don't like guns and dont believe in guns do two thing when they think someone broke into their home. They pray to God and call someone with a gun.
I can't remember who said it, but it is soooo very true.
Glad you guys are ok, maybe now your room mate might shut his pie hole when it comes to you carrying.

That's hilarious, but typical.
Years ago there was a comedian (I forget the name) who said, "They always tell you to never pick at your teeth with a sharp object, but when you go to the dentist, what's the very first thing he does...?"
I've seen attitudes like your roommate's for years. Just explain to him that the problem with needing a gun is that when you need it, you need it now and you need it bad.
Personally, I would tell him that he finally got across to you; you sold your gun and will never own another one. So the next time there's a rogue pan in the kitchen, he can deal with it.

Years ago a very anti-gun co-worker had one of those "conversions" when two armed robbers hid in our building after a botched robbery across the street. "Did you bring your rod?", he asked anxiously, when I came in for work. (I guess "rod" is still a new york term for gun)
Suddenly, he was very glad to see me, although the police who were clearing the building with sidearms drawn finally flushed the bad guys out of a utility room.
After that morning, he never again lectured me about being a gun owner!

Don't take any crap. Just do what needs to be done, then answer their questions when it's apparent they've reached the end of their tiny intellectual string (on this issue). About all you can do with a died-in-the-wool type. Got 'em in my family, too.
