I would have no problem checking my magazines/ammo, but this is a real good reason to be allowed to carry my weapon. No one is gonna steal magazines..... Just sayin.

While not knowledgable on diplomacy this puzzles me on two counts.
First all they had were Glocks, I would have expected more firepower.
Second, I would have thought they could have put the guns in a diplomatic pouch.

I would love to be enlightened on this.

Generally, we (the US) does not allow a foreign dignitary to bring long guns with their protective detail. There are, of course, exceptions for everything.

The "diplomatic pouch" is far too slow to be used for a protective detail such as this. Details, by and large, do just what this detail did: put their guns in checked baggage. There are other ways and means, of course, but they're best not discussed on an open forum.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

Key question-- is this ordinary theft or was this part of an attempt to disarm security to make the pm vulnerable?

I am surprised that the pistols were not discribed as "military style, self loading, automatic guns".

Heres my thought, the guns were stolen at the Airport where they were checked in,the baggage handler then rerouted the luggage so they would have a harder time trying to pinpoint the thieving airline employee.bet he didn't realise that he stole guns the State department is gonna be looking all over heck for.I see polygraphs of every baggage handler that had access in the very near future

So do they have to barrow some of our Secret service now, or get some from there embassy? Anywise 4 Glock 9 mm seams like an anemic armament to protect the PM of Israel.
