Another Bump in the Night Story

Just read one of these here and it reminded me of an experience I had about 25 years ago.

I slept with a condition 1 1911 in a holster stuffed between my mattress and side board of the bed. Flashlight on the bottom shelf of the bedside table.

Wife and I are sound asleep and I hear her say, "Hay! Hay! HAY!" I looked over at her only half awake and dazed, and I see a man in a red plaid shirt leaning over her. I rolled out of the bed drawing my 1911 on the way.

Now picture this: but my feet got tangled in the covers and I ended up sitting up with my butt on the floor, my feet on the bed in the covers, and I am firmly wedged between the bed and my chest of drawers. Pistol muzzle is under control and pointed at the ceiling.

I fumbled for my flashlight, got it turned on and pointed it and the pistol in the general direction of my plaid shirt invader. No one is there!

About them my wife sits up, looks at me still on the floor, waving around a Maglite and a 1911, and asks very calmly, "What are you doing?"

I had to think about that for a few seconds before answering, "I am not real sure...."

After I extracted myself from my wedged position I did a house clearing and found no one in the room or the rest of the house, all entrances secure, and evidently no one was there before either. My wife was dreaming and I must have joined in, but it made for an exciting night.

Your "dream" was great practice. That's what happens in real life.

Freaky. Why was she waking you up? Why did she have a light and a gun?
