Does this sound like a good deal???

Ok, I'm a little leery about pulling the trigger on this one (pun intended) and just wanted some info from some fellow gun people.

A few months ago I found a couple of guns for sale at a price I would call cheap. The guns were a M&P Spec Ops 9mm and a Sig Mosquito .22. Both guns came with light/laser combos, similar to the TLR-2 and both have threaded bbls. Well the cool thing about it, was that both of the guns are brand new and have suppressors already mounted on them, they both came in a case, and the case also included two "combat" knives.

    Asking price 1650.

Well not long ago the guy lowered the price to 1500. After some research that seemed like a steal. But with a Spec Ops only going for around 650 and the Sig for around 450, I knew there had to be something fishy.

I then find out the suppressors are "home made" by a gunsmith. Now I am not at all familiar with laws that apply to suppressors or Class III items, but I just don't feel easy with the idea of the purchase now. I have talked to the guy and apparently these guns were inherited from a relative and the guy selling them does not know a thing about guns. I got him talked down to 1200 and want to go through with the deal but I'm still kicking the idea around.

    What do you guys think??

Don't you need a class III tax stamp to have suppressors?

Does your state allow suppressors? Consult someone in your state who handles NFA items and get some direction. As it stands now, I would not buy them for a penny or take them for free. The ATF has the U.S. Treasury at their disposal to prosecute which means unlimited money.

Forget the suppressors. Are the guns worth it to you?

Assuming the suppressors are legal (in your state and manufactured on a Form 1 from the ATF), it will take weeks to months for the ATF to approve the transfer from him to you. And it will cost you $200 for the tax stamp (part of the approval process) for each suppressor. Unless the .22 suppressor can be taken apart and cleaned, eventually it will fill up with carbon and lead and stop working. Homemade suppressors have a virtually no resale value as a result of the lack of customer service when something goes wrong with them and no way of knowing how well they work.

Are the guns worth the price that you have negotiated?
