I believe in Florida they have to meet the same requirements of weapons carry as any non sworn officer or licensed security guard.
It is my understanding that they do not issue the weapon. You are required to supply the weapon and to qualify with it to carry it on duty.

That would seem to me to be an individual company policy. Some may let you carry your own sidearm, others may issue a particular make and model. The really high quality companies would probably issue Glocks!![]()

Loomis Fargo used to use the range where I once worked and they issued Taurus 6-round revolvers with a 4 inch barrel. Lots of guards in the area still carry a revolver of some make.
Those ports on the doors of armored cars are not autoloader friendly. Hence, lots of revolvers in use by armored car guards.

Blame it on Sixto - now that is a viable plan.
A friend of mine used to work for an armored truck company, She had to supply her own handgun.
That would depend on the company of course. It might even vary from location to location. If you really wanted to start "practicing" figure out what to practice and get yourself a 4" double action revolver. A 38 special would be my hunch.

you need a 4-6 inch revolver, ruger security six or sp101 would be my preference, the reason being is that an automatic will jam when firing through the slots of the armored car, I can and have filled in for my company on armored cars and i actually used a shotgun, so i would say get a revolver that has a decently long barrel and double action fire

I believe you will be looking at a revolver of some sort.....hopefully not a Taurus![]()

Well here in TN Most all the big outfits use auto loaders. You supply your own as well as your body armor. H&K, Glock, Sig, S&W...you see all brands and the trend is towards .40 S&W.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm not aware of a pistol that can make a one-shot stop on an armored car..... :]
