40 sw to .357 sig barrel swap for both sig 229 and glock 23

folks, this is really a 2 part question.

    1. if I place a .357 sig barrel to swap with a .40 sw barrel in a .40 sw sig 229, do I have to do anything else to ensure reliable, safe functioning of the pistol?

    2. same goes for a 40 sw glock 23.

one can assume that I will ensure to shoot .357 sig ammo after the barrel swap and I am also aware that the mags for both pistol can carry both 40 sw and .357 sig.

    thanks for any input.

Nope, the same mag is used....... barrel is the only part changed.

    Don't know about Glock.

I am pretty sure the answer is nope, On my S&WM&P 357Sig all you do is change the barrel out to 40S&W and you are good to go and vice versa and it works great 100% of the time in my M&P which I have my 40S&W barrel in right now and loaded with Federal 165grain HST Tactical Holowpoints.

For the Glock you’re good to go for 3rd generation and later. If it’s a second generation, you have to go by the serial number range. Glock did an upgrade somewhere during the second generation, to handle the higher velocity 357 sig. I don’t think it’s a real safety concern on the earlier ones, but it could put extra wear on your frame.

I have both barrels for my 229 and everything works fine. Same mag for both. 40 ammo is cheaper. 357 is more fun.

Same experience here. Can't speak for the Glock, though I suspect it's the same story.
