    PPK/S safety lever dropping

Just a few days ago, my normally 100% reliable Interarms .380 PPK/S developed a problem when firing: The saftey lever drops down into the "safe" position on its own. Obviously, I DO NOT want this to happen if I were to need subsequent shots! I have had this gun for several years and have put several thousand trouble free rounds through it. Nothing has changed; same grip, same FMJ ammo, the gun is clean, etc. This is a brand new problem; any ideas as to why the darned safety lever just engages itself on its own after the gun is being fired? It happened three times in a 100-round range session the other day. Freaked me out...either I figure this out or my beloved PPK/S becomes a safe queen and gets taken out of the carry rotation. It's only my tuxedo and BBQ gun but I like it and would like to keep it in the line up...but not if it can't be brought back to 100%. Help!

I just took a look at an exploded parts diagram for the PPK series guns. The parts were not identified, but it look like there is a small coil spring which works to return the safety lever to the Fire position once it's out of the Safe detent. Should be a simple fix for any competent gunsmith.

Yup, that's the first thing I'd address.
