She said OK.
My fiance finally gave me the green light to get the Glock 20 I always wanted (well, it's what I've wanted since my last purchase anyway)
As luck would have it, the starter on my truck went out the very next day. So looks like I will be spending this rainy sunday under the truck. If all works out I'll be putting the G20 on layaway next weekend

I guess there is a difference between saying "yes" and "OK". "Yes" means she will marry you and "OK" means she will let you get a Glock.
Well, I guess congrats are in order either way.

True...well.. I tried staying single after my divorce......being single just isn't a good thing for me. The good thing is she's finally gotten to the point where she's is glad I carry everyday

Hah, I was actually just kidding. As it is, I agree with you that marriage can be more fulfilling than being single, albeit the whole loss of freedom thing'.
Been freelance for about 7-years now and it isn't all that great. Say, maybe we should ask the Administrator for a 'singles section'. Wouldn't that be soOoo cool to hook-up with a gun-nut partner? It could be called 'Guns n' Roses'.

OMO, but if you have to seek permission from your girl friend to buy a gun, YOU are headed for some bigger problems.

Please pardon me if this is a stupid question, but I keep reading about people putting a gun on layaway. What is the benefit? My understanding (please correct me if I'm wrong) is that in a layaway situation you pay the merchant slowly over time, once the item is paid for you get it. Sometimes there may also be a fee involved.
If my understanding is correct, then why not just save the money in a coffee can at home, or put it aside in a savings account or something till you have enough saved up? Is there a significant benefit I'm missing here?

That made me chuckle.
Seems like every time I save up enough for a new toy, something expensive breaks. Its odd how that works.

Yes, roger that and stock up on ammo and get a holster as well. You probably can't slip a box of 10mm onto the Walmart credit card bill as "groceries" or "motor oil" like you can the 9mm or 40. (mine does not have it)
"OK" can be a lukewarm affirmative in the female lexicon.
I am wanting a G20 as well and I think I am going to sell some old gold jewelry for it.

Thats exactly what happens to me too. This will actually be the first time I'll doing the layaway. I usually pay cash, but these days I always make sure I have emergency funds available. Plus the gun shop has it in stock....hate to save up for it then find out it's been sold when I'm ready to bring it home.

Cool that you can get it, but needing to ask permission is certainly not something I would put up with, unless she was the bread-winner somehow or we were short on money in general. Hope all is working well for you and that you're happy.
