After reading the article, I'd say the guy got a nice deal from the prosecutor. Michigan residents are required by law to have a license from Michigan to carry. A loaded pistol under the seat in Michigan is concealed and requires a license. I do not know of any legal way to transport a loaded long gun in the trunk. If he was still a resident of Pennsylvania, the handgun under the seat would be fine with his PA. license; but, the rifle is still illegal.

That was a very interesting article. Sounds like you've got a lot of good people up there fighting for your rights, and still some dummies. On the whole, I'd say the balance is much better than it is in my neck of the woods...

It's going to be a painful process but we are slowly figuring out what "keep and bear arms" means again. This guy has a very valid argument. I think he'd win if he took it far enough.
We're all in favor of reducing violent crime. It's just that pro-gunners have a method that is proven effective. Anti-gunners don't.

Sounds like the prosecutor possible hit for every charge with the intent let him enter a plea to the original actual crime(load rifle in motor vehicle). Seems most of MI is pro carry with some hold outs in certain areas.
