Glock Slide Refinishing by Glock........

Has anyone had Glock refinish one of their slides? I know I can send it to Robar but even on the low side it is going to cost around $200 plus shipping. Glock says they charge $45 plus shipping. The front sight will need replacing so I would send a set of XS Big Dots to have them installed after the refinishing. There is no charge for that from Glock since I am supplying the sights. They would charge for a front sight if I did not supply my own since the original front sight cannot be replaced.

I havn't had any guns refinished, but from what I understand from researching it, the finish that Glock puts on them is Black Oxide coating (which will wear off again), and Roguard from Robar is like 10 times better, that's why it costs so much. Depends on how much you want to put into it and how durable you want it.

Not sure if Glock would replace your front sight with what you send as a replacement. More than likely, they will replace with OEM front sight. Manufacturer specs are manufacturer specs. They won't want to be liable for an aftermarket install. Plain and simple. Getting your slide refinished at the factory is another ordeal. I'd say Glock is your best deal for that. Aftermarket installs would be your own undertaking IMO. Don't expect too much out of a good thing IMO.
